The solar opportunity in Brazil & VEF’s investment in Solfácil
Today we release our latest research report, ‘The solar opportunity in Brazil & VEF’s investment in Solfácil’. The report is part of our series of publications sharing insights on our portfolio companies and their ecosystems.
Through our investment in Creditas, we have gained a deep understanding of asset-backed lending in Brazil. Leveraging this experience, VEF invested in Solfácil, Brazil’s largest digital solar panel marketplace and financing platform, in March 2022. Solfácil is building a full ecosystem for solar energy adoption in Brazil, which is still in its infancy across the emerging market world.
In this report, which can be found here, we provide an overview of the solar energy market opportunity in Brazil, focusing on the value proposition of solar and the potential market size of solar financing. We also give special focus to VEF’s investment in Solfácil, including an interview with the company’s founder, Fabio Carrara.
Evin Mc Kay, VEF Investment Associate, comments:
“Sustainability is a fundamental part of VEF’s investment philosophy, and the solar energy opportunity is a prime example of the symbiotic intersection between fintech and positive climate impact. Solar energy plays a crucial role in the decarbonization roadmap of emerging markets, and Solfácil is a pioneer at the forefront of this growth opportunity in Brazil.’
