Scandi Standard's climate goals approved by Science Based Targets initiative

Scandi Standard, leading producer of high-quality chicken in the Nordics and Ireland, have set scientific climate goals through the Science Based Targets initiative and now have them officially validated. By 2030, Scandi Standard aims to cut its emissions by half, both within its own operations and across the value chain.

"We are proud that Scandi Standard is one of few food producers in the Nordics and Ireland to have their climate goals approved by the Science Based Targets initiative. It means that our operations have scientifically grounded climate goals aligned with the Paris Agreement to help reduce global warming," says Ida Ljungkvist, Sustainability Manager at Scandi Standard.

Scandi Standard's officially approved SBTi climate goals are as follows:
- Scandi Standard commits to reduce its absolute carbon dioxide emissions within scope 1 and 2 by 50% by 2030, using 2021 as the base year.
- Scandi Standard also commits to reduce its absolute carbon dioxide emissions within scope 3 by 50% during the same timeframe.

Research shows that global warming should not exceed 1.5 degrees to avoid the worst effects of climate change. By setting goals in line with the Science Based Targets guidelines, Scandi Standard is contributing to keeping the world within the limits of climate change.

"A sustainable long-term food production is a crucial factor in the fight against the climate crisis. As a market leader, we want to increase transparency and take clear leadership in the industry's ongoing green transition," continues Ida.

An inventory of emissions from Scandi Standard's operations and value chain has been conducted, and today the company's goals have been officially approved.

"The fact that our climate goals have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative sends a clear signal to everyone in our value chain that we take this seriously and ensures that Scandi Standard stands for sustainable growth in the future," says Jonas Tunestål, CEO of Scandi Standard.

About the Science Based Targets initiative:
The Science Based Targets initiative is a collaboration between CDP, UN Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI), and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). SBTi defines and promotes leading scientifically grounded goals and independently evaluates companies' targets.
