Research highlight: Dendritic Nanogels (DNGs) show promising results in new study
In a recently published study by Zhang et al, dendritic nanogels (DNGs) show promising results as carriers of antimicrobial peptides (AMP) for topical treatment of skin infections. DNGs were made commercially available by Polymer Factory in December 2022.
The study was conducted with the aim of finding a topical delivery strategy for AMPs, which are promising antibacterial agents. AMPs were encapsulated in DNGs and subsequently embedded in a hydrogel, which formed the delivery system. In-vitro studies showed good biocompatibility and in-vivo models showed superior efficacy of the DNG-encapsulated AMPs compared to the AMP in solution.
The study was published in the journal Macromolecular Bioscience in January 2023. Find the link to the paper here.
