PolarCool expands footprint in German Ice Hockey, securing a partnership with Schwenninger Wild Wings
The med-tec company PolarCool AB (publ.) continues its growth in German ice hockey. The company has agreed to a partnership with Schwenninger Wild Wings, a team in the German top league DEL. Currently, 8 out of 14 DEL teams have introduced PolarCap® for acute concussion treatment.
PolarCool develops and markets the product PolarCap®, which alleviates the effects of concussions. The primary users of PolarCap® include sports clubs, organizations, and facilities in contact sports such as ice hockey, rugby, football, and handball, but also other sports with an increased risk of concussion.
PolarCool has recently signed agreements with several other professional ice hockey clubs in DEL for the use of the PolarCap® System, and Schwenninger Wild Wings now become the eighth club in the league to provide treatment with PolarCap®, alongside Dresdner Eislöwen in DEL2, the second tier of Germany Ice Hockey.
The company continues to see great potential in the German ice hockey market, where there are 28 teams in the two top leagues alone.
PolarCool CEO Erik Andersson comments;
-We look gladly at our momentum in Germany and we see that the increased attention for PolarCap® continues to result in new agreements. More and more ice hockey clubs see the possibility of reducing the risk of long-term absence if a player suffers a concussion. We look forward to continuing our many ongoing dialogues in the market that we are optimistic will result in additional clubs in Europe signing agreements.
The agreement with Schwenninger Wild Wings is in line with PolarCool's overall strategy to introduce PolarCap® to the international ice hockey market and is strategically important, even if the financial significance of individual agreements is limited.
