NCC to construct high school in Lieto, Finland
NCC has signed an agreement with the City of Lieto to expand Taatila elementary school with a high school for approximately 500 students. The project is a turnkey contract, and the order value is approximately SEK 195 million.
The new two-story school building will have a total area of approximately 8,000 square meters. On completion of the building, the current high school will be demolished and the schoolyard will be redeveloped. The school will accommodate students from grades 7 through 9. Project planning and design has already been completed and construction can now commence.
“Together with the City’s various organizations, including the education, sports and technical administrations, we have designed the school to ensure the most fit-for-purpose and healthy learning environments both for students and for staff. We are proud to be part of this project,” says Esa Lehmusvuori, Head of Department, NCC Building Nordics in western Finland.
“The expansion will give us access to larger and more modern premises, which is much needed. We are pleased to have a highly skilled and experienced contractor in charge of this school project. The new school will make our city more attractive and we look forward to turning the first sod in April,” says Jonas Nylund, Director of Technical Services, City of Lieto.
Construction will commence in April 2024 and the project is expected to be completed in 2026.
The assignment, valued at approximately SEK 195 million, will be registered in the NCC Building Nordics business area in the first quarter of 2024.
