LED iBond enters new Smart Building market segment
LED iBond International (LED iBond) is now entering the fastgrowing market for electric vehicle (EV) charging in the UK.
The company will begin delivery of linear LED lighting for Gridserve’s “Electric Highway”, a nationwide charging network, which will establish dedicated electric vehicle charging facilities on Britain’s motorways and major roads.
Backed up by the Hitachi group, Gridserve is an international sustainable energy business, which develops, builds, owns and operates ‘sun-to-wheel’ hybrid solar, electric vehicle charging and battery storage critical power infrastructure. Gridserve plans to establish more than 80 EV charging hubs in the UK.
As sub-supplier, LED iBond will deliver Tracy® LED-solutions to its long-standing partner Bluetop Solar Parking (Bluetop), a Danish manufacturer of solar carport solutions. Serving as canopies covering EV charging stands, Bluetop’s OPTI Solar Carport system will become a structural component at a number of Gridserve’s charging hubs.
For its first installation in the Electric Highway project, Bluetop has placed an order for 190 meters of Tracy panels with LED iBond to be delivered in October 2021. LED iBond expects that this initial order will be followed by additional orders in 2021 and 2022.
Pia Stangerup, CEO of LED iBond, says:
- This is an important development for LED iBond. The EV charging business is enjoying wide political support and is attracting substantial financial investments. We are convinced that this industry will grow at a staggering rate for the foreseeable future. As our linear lighting concept is a perfect match with Bluetop’s stylishly designed canopies, we feel very comfortable with this partnership. We look forward to delivering our part of this new and solid growth opportunity and contributing to UN sustainable development goal no. 13 (Climate Action) at the same time.
The collaboration with Bluetop for the delivery of canopy solutions for Gridserve’s Electric Higway project is already included in LED iBond’s previously announced financial outlook.
