Lamor to supply a build-in oil spill response system for a Polish rescue service vessel to mitigate environmental risks at the Baltic Sea

Remontowa Shiprepair Yard in Poland has placed an order with Lamor for the refurbishment of the oil spill response systems aboard the Kapitan Poinc. The value of the order is over EUR 1 million. It is entered into Lamor’s order backlog in the first quarter of 2025.
Kapitan Poinc is a Polish multi-purpose rescue tug vessel built in 1996. “The vessel will undergo a comprehensive modernisation affecting many of its systems. In this connection, the oil spill response technology will be updated to respond to the risen threat level at the Baltic Sea and to strengthen national environmental protection capabilities”, explains Sales Manager Timo Pylkkä from Lamor.
Kapitan Poinc’s new oil spill response capability will be based on the Lamor Oil Recovery System (LORS), which is a vessel-mounted advancing skimming system. It uses Lamor’s conveyor chain brush technology and makes the entire vessel an oil-slick processing system. The system will be delivered to the shipyard in June.
The agreement also includes installation supervision, commissioning, spare parts service, and training for deployment of the oil spill response technology to ensure a prompt and efficient response.
