Konecranes’ sustainability work rewarded once again with Gold rating from EcoVadis
Konecranes’ ambitious sustainability work has been rewarded with a Gold rating for a third straight year from EcoVadis, one of the world’s leading business sustainability rating agencies. Konecranes’ actions, policies and reporting put it in the top 4% of all rated companies globally, and in the top 1% of its general-purpose machinery peers.
Konecranes’ total score improved versus 2022, showing that the systematic work the company is doing to execute its sustainability agenda is paying off. EcoVadis’ evidence-based assessment covers a broad range of non-financial management system impacts and sustainability performance including Environmental, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics as well as Sustainable Procurement.
“This recognition from an industry benchmark like EcoVadis confirms that Konecranes is taking meaningful steps towards its sustainability targets. This is not only good for the planet – there are clear business benefits as well given how the EcoVadis rating is increasingly examined by companies when choosing their equipment and service partners. This is why Advancing Responsible Business is one of the strategic enablers we have identified to help us become the world leader in material handling solutions, creating value for everyone,” said Konecranes President and CEO Anders Svensson.
“Konecranes wants to lead the sustainability efforts in our industry. The EcoVadis Gold rating with the improved total score and our high placement among all rated companies, not just versus our peers, confirms that we are making clear, concrete progress towards this goal,” says Anniina Virta-Toikka, Head of Sustainability at Konecranes.
Konecranes has distilled the material aspects of its operations into four commitments for sustainability: we enable a decarbonized and circular world; we deliver safe and secure material handling solutions; we create a fair, inclusive, diverse and engaging working environment; and we expect the highest ethical standards of ourselves and our business partners. The company has set ambitious targets for all four areas, and regularly monitors and reports its progress towards meeting those commitments.
A strong focus on customers and commitment to business growth and continuous improvement make Konecranes a lifting industry leader. This is underpinned by investments in digitalization and technology, plus our work to make material flows more efficient with solutions that decarbonize the economy and advance circularity and safety.
