Hynion granted funding from the Climate Leap for the establishment of a new hydrogen refueling station in Örnsköldsvik
Hynion Sverige AB has received positive news from the Swedish Energy Agency regarding climate investment funding through the Climate Leap. The funding amounts to SEK 18,21 million and will cover 60 percent of the eligible costs for the establishment of a new hydrogen refueling station in Örnsköldsvik.
The new hydrogen refueling station in Örnsköldsvik is part of Hynion's continued efforts to develop a robust hydrogen infrastructure in Sweden. Örnsköldsvik was selected due to its strategic location along the E4, one of Sweden’s most important transport routes, and at the intersection of national routes 90 and 348. This makes the city an optimal location to support both local and long-distance hydrogen-powered transport.
This station is also part of Hynion's new generation of hydrogen refueling stations, now with a capacity of 2 000 kg of hydrogen per day. Similar stations are currently under construction in Västerås and Jönköping, further strengthening Hynion’s role as a leading player in hydrogen infrastructure in Sweden.
This project has also received support from the County Administrative Board of Västernorrland, which assesses that it aligns with the region’s energy and climate strategies. The project is expected to be completed by April 30, 2026.
"We are extremely pleased with this positive decision from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and the significant support from Climate Leap. This funding is crucial for our ambition to build a sustainable hydrogen infrastructure in Sweden, and it helps us accelerate the transition to cleaner transportation. With the new station in Örnsköldsvik, we are strengthening our position as a leading player in hydrogen in Scandinavia and contributing to a greener future," says Slavica Djuric, CEO of Hynion Sverige AB.
