Hydrogen centre financed by the Swedish Energy Agency
The centre of excellence TechForH2 has been awarded a grant from the Swedish Energy Agency for the time period 2022-2026. TechForH2 is led by Chalmers University of Technology and will be a collaboration with partners such as RISE, Siemens Energy, PowerCell Sweden, Scania, Volvo GTT, GKN Aerospace, Oxeon, Stena Teknik, Johnson Matthew and Insplorion. The total budget is ca. 162 MSEK over the first five-year period.
The Swedish Energy agency has granted eleven new centres of excellence, with the overall goal to boost world-class research and innovation in areas of strategic importance for a sustainable energy system. Insplorion is part of the centre “Technologies and innovations for a sustainable future hydrogen economy”, TechForH2 in short, which will focus on challenges, with the hydrogen economy, for mobility applications within heavy transport solutions.
Five projects will be initiated as the centre starts up, one of which will focus on further developing Insplorion’s hydrogen sensor platform, with the aim to improve its performance for new application areas to, for instance, operate under high pressure conditions.
“The start of this centre further shows how strategic investments go to hydrogen as one of the green alternatives when decarbonizing our energy systems. This centre will improve our sensor’s performance based on industry needs and further establish it as the sensor of choice for both safety and process control applications within the hydrogen field. We especially see the strong industrial network tied to the technological development by the university as one of the strengths of the centre“, comments Patrik Dahlqvist, CEO at Insplorion.
