Global Player Recognizes SCA’s Forestry Work and Climate Efforts on the A-List
SCA has secured a spot on CDP’s (Carbon Disclosure Project) A-List for companies, authorities, and cities in the categories assessing forestry work, procurement of forest raw materials, and efforts against climate change.
Per Funkquist, Head of Sustainability, sees this as clear and positive recognition that SCA’s sustainability efforts are at the forefront on a global scale.
"Our business is built on having growing and thriving forests that create climate benefits. This recognition serves as a quality seal, confirming that SCA has well-balanced strategies, measures, and sustainability reporting that are globally leading," says Per Funkquist.
CDP, a global non-profit organization that evaluates the environmental work of companies and cities, recently released its A-List. The organization assesses companies, authorities, and cities, providing ratings from D to A, with A being the highest score.
According to CDP, companies representing two-thirds of the global market capitalization—from 130 countries—report critical environmental data through the organization. The ranking is based on collected data, and assessments take into account factors such as transparency, risk management, and actions within the areas evaluated by CDP.
"We invest significant time and resources in nurturing and developing our forests to contribute to greater climate benefits. For us, it is about managing forests, creating climate benefits through continuously growing forests and renewable products, but with long-term perspectives and consideration for ecosystems—both in individual harvesting operations and at the landscape level," says Per Funkquist.
In this year’s CDP evaluation, over 20,000 organizations were assessed, and SCA was included on the A-List in both the climate category and the category assessing forestry and the procurement of forest raw materials.
"It is very gratifying and motivating that SCA’s efforts are recognized in this context. On the global stage, Swedish forestry plays a leading role in sustainability efforts, and we work systematically to balance many different values while delivering greater climate benefits," says Per Funkquist.
