Clean Industry Solutions subsidiary SolarSpring signs MOU with Aqualia
The subsidiary of Clean Industry Solutions Holding Europe AB, SolarSpring, a pioneer in the field of membrane distillation, has signed an MOU with Aqualia, 4th largest water company in Europe. The purpose is collaboration in the business development of both companies leading to full-scale implementation of membrane distillation technology.
Aqualia (https://www.aqualia.com/web/aqualia-en/home) is a water management company owned by the citizen services group FCC (51%) and by the Australian ethical fund IFM Investors (49%). The company is the fourth water company in Europe by population served and the ninth in the world, according to the latest Global Water Intelligence ranking (December 2022). It currently provides service to 43.7 million users in 18 countries: Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Colombia, Chile, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Spain, France, Italy, Mexico, Oman, Perú, Portugal, Qatar, Czech Republic, Romania, USA and Georgia.
Their comprehensive water management cycle ranges from the collection, purification and treatment of water collected from the natural environment to the distribution and collection of wastewater for its subsequent treatment and return to the source from which it was obtained. In short, the process ranges from the supply of drinking water to the treatment of wastewaters.
Aqualia and SolarSpring will collaborate in the development, demonstration, and commercialization of membrane distillation technology with a main focus on high salinity stream concentration. High salinity applications are common during the further concentration of RO reject, Zero Liquid Discharge applications and resource recovery from saline effluents.
