Wihlborgs retains first place in global sustainability rankings
In the 2024 edition of the ESG assessment the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), Wihlborgs was once again ranked at the top and awarded five of a possible five stars.
Wihlborgs received the maximum number of stars and ranks number one in the category of listed diversified property companies in Europe (office/industrial).
GRESB is a benchmarking tool that measures and evaluates sustainability efforts at property companies and property funds from an investor perspective. A high GRESB rating indicates a high-quality sustainable property company.
In the Development sub-rating, Wihlborgs has increased its score from 91 to 97 and its rating from four stars to five. In the property management area Standing Investments, Wihlborgs scored 88 points compared with the average score for all participating companies which is 76. Comparison with the previous year is complex since GRESB has made changes in standards, analysis methods and criteria and that the result in GRESB is relative to the performance of other participating companies.
“It is gratifying that our continued focus on ESG is clearly reflected in our performance, and that our measures to reduce our climate footprint and strengthen our measurement and reporting of sustainability, are having an impact. It is also gratifying to note widespread acceleration of sustainability efforts within the industry as a whole. Together we can make a big difference,” says Lisa Östling, ESG controller at Wihlborgs.
“GRESB measures our actual performance on a property level and the governance of our sustainability efforts, which makes it an important tool for stakeholders who want to evaluate us as well as clear confirmation to ourselves that we are on the right track. This year’s survey shows that the industry is making clear progress with sustainability, which is very positive,” says Ulrika Hallengren, CEO of Wihlborgs.
