PolarCool signs the first ice hockey agreement in Austria with EC Klagenfurter AC
The med-tec company PolarCool AB (publ.) continues to expand its presence in European ice hockey by signing its first agreement in Austria's highest league – the Win2Day Ice Hockey League. EC Klagenfurter AC will now include the PolarCap® System in its procedures for managing concussions.
PolarCool develops the product PolarCap® System, which alleviates the effects of concussions. The primary customers are sports clubs and facilities in ice hockey, rugby, football and handball, but also other sports with an increased risk of concussion.
At present, PolarCool has a strong presence in ice hockey leagues in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland and entry into Austria in the Win2Day Ice Hockey League marks important progress into a new market. The league holds a total of 13 teams and spans the three countries of Austria, Italy, and Slovenia. EC Klagenfurter AC will use the PolarCap® System initially for the remainder of this season, with the option to continue with a two-year commercial agreement.
PolarCool CEO Erik Andersson comments:
-I am happy that we continue to establish PolarCap® within European top ice hockey. The Austrian league is another league where the PolarCap® System can make a positive impact. We look forward to continuing our ongoing dialogues with other clubs in the league and my hope is that more will follow EC Klagenfurter AC and start providing PolarCap®, as awareness of the benefits of the treatment continues to grow.
The agreement with EC Klagenfurter AC represents an important breakthrough within this league, even if the financial significance of individual agreements are limited.
