PolarCool grows in Swiss Ice Hockey - HC Thurgau signs agreement
The med-tec company PolarCool AB (publ.) have signed an agreement with HC Thurgau for the use of the PolarCap® System. HC Thurgau plays in the Swiss second division Swiss League and become the first team in the league to provide PolarCap® within their concussion management routines.
PolarCool develops and markets the product PolarCap®, which alleviates the effects of concussions. The primary users of PolarCap® include sports clubs, organizations, and facilities in contact sports such as ice hockey, rugby, football, and handball, but also other sports with an increased risk of concussion.
PolarCool has successfully established PolarCap® in the top tier of European ice hockey with existing agreements in all of the major ice hockey leagues, such as the SHL (Sweden), Liiga (Finland), DEL (Germany) and NLA (Switzerland). In addition to these top leagues, there is a broad market potential and interest in PolarCap® from the lower divisions of Ice Hockey, as the agreement with HC Thurgau demonstrates. HC Thurgau will use the PolarCap® System in an initial evaluation period, with the option to continue into a two-year commercial agreement.
PolarCool CEO Erik Andersson comments:
-I am happy that we continue to establish PolarCap® at all levels in European ice hockey. We envision the treatment to be used in both the highest and lower divisions. My hope is that more clubs will choose to provide the treatment as awareness of the benefits of the treatment continues to grow.
The Swiss League is the second-highest league in Swiss ice hockey and holds a total of 10 teams. The agreement with HC Thurgau is strategically important, even if the financial significance of individual agreements is limited.
