Malmö University leases 4,900 square metres from Wihlborgs for police training courses
Malmö University has signed an agreement for 4,900 square metres in the Dockan district of Malmö, where police candidates will undergo training starting in autumn 2025. The lease is for ten years.
Malmö University and its police training course is already a tenant of Wihlborgs in Dockan, and has trained police since 2019. As a result of the general increase in the need for trained police, the number of places in the police training programme at Malmö University has increased, which also impacts the need for training premises.
The property has a special location in Dockan close to the sea, the marina, restaurants, services and a mix of public sector operations and head offices.
The property will be certified under Miljöbyggnad iDrift and equipped with rooftop solar panels.
“With the new training premises, we are making space for more police students and we are proud to now be able to help further societal development,” says Caroline Mellgren, Head of Department at the Department of Police Work at Malmö University.
“We are pleased that Malmö University is expanding with us, and that the property will be part of meeting this new and crucial societal need. With its functions and its location, the property will be a good complement to Malmö University’s existing premises. The increased presence of the police training course will also have positive effects for Dockan, with further life and activity in the area,” says Ulrika Hallengren, CEO of Wihlborgs.
