Klimator initiates a project aiming to improve energy prediction for electric vehicles by including road weather information
The project is carried out together with a global player within heavy transport. The value of the order is 984 KSEK, of which 738 KSEK is financed through FFI. The project extends over 9 months, starting in mid-December. The project aims to improve the energy consumption forecast for heavy electric vehicles by including road weather information from Klimator.
The initiative for the project has a background in investments in battery electric and fuel cell-powered vehicles. To enable successful range estimation, planning, and dimensioning, high precision is required in predicting the energy situation in real operation. The aim of the project is therefore to improve the energy consumption forecast for electric vehicles from a road weather perspective by including road weather information from Klimator.
"By integrating road weather data into energy consumption forecasts for electric vehicles, we are creating new paths for sustainable mobility. We see this as an exciting and important opportunity as our knowledge can help enable and meet energy prediction needs with high precision, where every step towards improved range estimation is an important component towards a future of more efficient and reliable electric operation.” Says Viktoria Bogren, Head of Business Area Automotive at Klimator.
About Road Condition Data
Road Condition Data (RCD) is a cloud-based Data-as-a-Service platform providing actionable data on current and future road weather, for proactive mobility. The RCD platform uses a combination of ruled-based algorithms, machine learning, and immense amounts of real-life road and environment data. The information enables actors within the automotive industry to enhance the driving experience, the functionality, operability, and safety of advanced driver support systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (AD) technologies.
