Thule Group moves to Wihlborgs in Dockan in Malmö
The global sports and outdoor company Thule will move its headquarters to Dockan (Dockporten 1) in central Malmö in summer 2025. The lease is for 3,400 square metres and extends for eight years.
Thule Group targets discerning consumers who live an active lifestyle, offering them sports and outdoor products such as bike trailers, rooftop tents, cargo carriers and their well-known roof boxes. The company was founded in 1942 in Hillerstorp and has had its head office in Malmö since 2005.
The Dockporten 1 office building, with views over the marina and the strait, is located right in the middle of Dockan, with roof terraces and a wide offering of restaurants and services, and is walking distance to Malmö Central Station. Thule’s neighbours here include companies like Danir, Smeg, Orkla, Midsona, Telavox, Alfa E-care, Nexer, Oatly and Green Position.
Kockum’s old shipyard area, which Wihlborgs acquired in 1993, became the foundation for Dockan as it grew during the 2000s. Today Wihlborgs owns approximately 150,000 square metres in the area, including new production as well as older shipyard facilities that have been converted to house public sector operations and companies. Dockan has developed into an area with a high portion of head offices – an attractive place for brands to be exposed thanks to its concentrated mix of housing and workplaces.
Mercedes-Benz is the building’s current tenant and in 2025 the company will move to Vista (Bläckhornet 1), Wihlborgs’ new production project in Hyllie.
“Moving to the new office properties is an important step in further developing Thule Group as a workplace that focuses on innovation, collaboration and well-being. We want to create a Thule Campus that combines urban environments with nature, thus reflecting Thule Group’s values and identity,” says Helena Dino, SVP HR at Thule Group.
“It is incredibly exciting to have a strong brand like Thule Group as a tenant here, and that Dockan remains a stronghold for head offices. Dockan has followed, even supported, the positive trend of business establishments in Malmö since the turn of the millennium. This is an area that we have been committed to for quite some time and that is very meaningful for us,” says Ulrika Hallengren, CEO of Wihlborgs.
