Wihlborgs signs new leases for growing life science node Medeon in Malmö

{newsItem.title}

The medical technology company Rubin Medical is set to move in to Medeon (Forskaren 1) in the summer and the existing tenant Swedencare is expanding at the same location. The leases encompass approximately 1,000 square metres.

Rubin Medical markets and distributes high-tech devices for patients with type 1 diabetes and has been part of the Indutrade technology Group since 2012. The lease at Medeon encompasses 840 square metres and extends for five years, with occupancy on 1 August.

Swedencare, which manufactures food supplements for dogs, cats and horses, already has its head office located at Medeon and is expanding its premises as well as extending the lease by five years from 1 July.

As recently as 2020, Wihlborgs completed a new 3,500-square-metre building at Medeon with the aim of meeting the considerable interest from life science companies. The research park is now set for a comprehensive expansion phase with a new detailed development plan for the area that will enable expansion from 30,000 to about 80,000 square metres for life science operations in the next few years. Medeon is also part of the continually growing Danish/Swedish life science cluster Medicon Valley.

“Since we first arrived at Medeon 15 years ago, our sales have grown from about SEK 60 million to SEK 1.2 billion. We now require cohesive premises with space for continued growth, which makes Medeon, with its infrastructure and other neighbouring life science companies, extremely attractive,” says Karl-Johan Öhman, CEO of Rubin Medical.

“Medeon’s varied mix of life science companies and its proximity to academies, healthcare, recreation, culture, housing and public transportation means that it offers all the ingredients for a stimulating business climate. We are pleased that Rubin Medical and Swedencare have elected to locate their operations here. Medeon’s planned expansion will further improve preconditions for businesses to establish operations and grow,” says Ulrika Hallengren, CEO of Wihlborgs.
