SENS goes ahead with one of Sweden's largest solar power and battery parks, signs a 23-hectare land lease agreement with the municipality of Filipstad, Sweden
Sustainable Energy Solutions Sweden Holding AB ("SENS" or the "Company") announces today that the Company has signed a land lease agreement with the municipality of Filipstad regarding the development and construction of a solar park with a battery storage outside Filipstad. In total, the entire project is estimated to achieve an effect of 45 MW
SENS extends its collaboration further with the Filipstad municipality, where a new energy cluster is beginning to form, as more initiatives have been initiated over the recent period. Today, SENS has signed a land lease agreement with Filipstad municipality that concerns a new project which includes a combined solar cell and battery solution. The surface extends over 23 hectares (230,000 m2) where it is planned to establish approx. 20 MW of solar power and 25 MW of battery storage. The project is located just south of Filipstad's industrial area, where larger industrial players are also located. The project is part of the major investment in sustainable energy solutions currently being made in Filipstad.
The new projects, together with SENS’ underground pumped hydro storage project in the Värmlandsberg mine, will create an energy cluster in the region. The signed land lease agreement with Filipstad municipality ensures that the project now enters a more active development phase. The first steps are taken immediately and the construction of the solar park is estimated to begin within 6-12 months when the final project rights to establish and operate solar power and battery projects are in place.
Henrik Boman, CEO of SENS, comments:
“Our collaboration with Filipstad is developing further and we are proud to get the vote of confidence by the municipality to develop such unique project. Our sustainable energy solution will provide the region with even further environmentally friendly way for production of energy. By demonstrating and offering next generation of energy system, we are honored to be chosen as development leader for this energy cluster that is coming along in Filipstad.”
Hannes Fellsman, municipal director of Filipstad municipality, comments:
"We think it is positive that Filipstad will now contribute to increased green energy production that is needed for local, regional and national needs. We look forward to SENS starting production, although of course there are several steps that must be taken before their facility is in production. Filipstad municipality's part in this is that we lease out suitable land".
