Readly signs Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet
Readly, the European market leader in digital magazines, and Svenska Dagbladet, one of Sweden's largest daily newspapers, enter into an agreement to give Readly's subscribers digital access to the daily newspaper from 13 October. So far this year, Readly's portfolio of daily newspapers has grown by more than 200 titles from publishers such as Axel Springer in Germany and Reach plc in the UK.
In addition to the extended reach that Readly offers, Svenska Dagbladet will have access to the platform’s user data and advertising statistics, which today comprise more than 50 billion data points. Data metrics such as the number of unique visitors, reading time for pages, number of clicks on advertising links and time spent on linked websites can help to maximise the newspaper's engagement and advertising strategy in the digital space.
– I am very pleased to announce that Svenska Dagbladet is now also available for Readly subscribers. It means that more people have the opportunity to discover Svenska Dagbladet and the journalism we stand for. We believe that Readly's subscribers want multiple perspectives and are curious to learn more about the world around us. Good journalism costs money and together with Readly we have found a model that both strengthens the reader and allows us to continue developing journalism, says Petter Lorentzon, head of Consumer Business at Svenska Dagbladet.
Through the collaboration, Readly's subscribers can read Svenska Dagbladet digitally.
– In the long run, we believe that this will also lead to even more people signing up for a subscription to SvD and being able to enjoy all of our content, says Petter Lorentzon.
– Our data shows that many users appreciate accessing a combination of different daily newspapers in order to read top stories from several perspectives. We are happy to be able to offer our subscribers Svenska Dagbladet. Readly's focus on expanding its offering with daily newspapers has proven to be a step in the right direction as one in five global editions opened on Readly is a daily newspaper. We are focusing on bringing in more regional newspapers as well, as this is an area we are seeing success with in the UK and Germany, says Daniel Hamrin, Nordic content manager at Readly.
The total average reading time for daily newspapers has increased by approximately 20 percent in Readly's core markets, Germany, the UK and Sweden, since 2020. A number of daily newspapers have been available on Readly since 2013, but a strategic focus to increase the portfolio began in 2021. About 38 national newspapers and 220 regional titles and local editions are now available on the platform, across all markets. The publishers include The Guardian News & Media (UK), Reach plc (UK) and Axel Springer (DE). A number of newspapers are also available from publishers in Austria, Switzerland, Ireland and India.
