European LED iBond patents now also set to include data communication features
LED iBond International’s (LED iBond) European patent process for patent family 4A is moving forward. The company has recently received confirmation that the European Patent Organisation, EPO has issued a “positive office action” for the patent, which includes the idea of using the sandwiched aluminium layers of Tracy® and other LED iBond products for data exchange with LEDs and third-party devices simultaneously with providing power for these components.
With this confirmation from EPO, LED iBond has now decided to take the next steps to follow up on this opportunity to secure additional patent protection of its products.
This means that, going forward, the entire range of LED iBond ACP and Tracy® products will have full patent protection of the unique electrical adapter – both with and without data communication features – in Denmark and in a selection of European countries to be decided at a later stage. The patent families 4A and 4B have already been fully established in USA, China, Japan, Russia and Singapore – both with and without integrated data communication. Both patent families are still pending in India and Brazil.
In addition, since the release of LED iBond’s prospectus of 16 March 2021, the patent portfolio has been progressed as follows:
- Patent family 4A has been granted in China.
- Patent family 6 (the Tracy® patent family) has also received a “positive office action” confirmation from EPO.
- Patent family 8 (the most recent family covering the company’s air transport unit) has been changed from a Danish application to an international PCT application (with the same priority date).
